WARRANTY & RETURN POLICY

CUSTOMER CARE

WARRANTY & REPAIRS

All knives are guaranteed to be free of defects in material and workmanship, against breakage or failure under normal use conditions for the lifetime of the original owner, and we will repair or replace, at our discretion, any Utah Knife Works knife that is defective under these conditions. We do not warrant our products against normal wear and tear, misuse, or product modifications. Our knives are not intended to be used as pry bars or screwdrivers.  Please note also that although the UKW Survivor knife CAN be thrown, it is not designed as a throwing knife, and can sustain damage such as blade chipping or handle breakage if thrown.  Any warranty would be considered void if the knife is used in this way.

Any knife edge can chip or deform under normal use, but these can normally be sharpened away with good sharpening tools. Utah Knife Works is glad to restore a "factory edge" to any of our knives and perform a basic tuneup and reconditioning of your knife free of charge at any time throughout the life of your knife.  We only ask that you cover the return shipping charges as explained in our Shipping section.

Handmade knives include materials that are durable, but not designed for the extremes of a dishwasher!  Always hand-clean your knife as your would any fine cutlery, and try to keep it in dry conditions to avoid possible water damage or corrosion.  Most of our handmade knives are NOT made of stainless steel, and can rust.  Be aware also that the hardwoods we use can change color over time, even with normal use.  Repeated exposure to hand oils or other fluids and even sunlight can darken the wood.  Rubbing down the wood with very fine steel wool and then polishing it with a good wood treatment can restore the original beauty of the grain of the wood.  Boiled linseed oil is considered a good wood restorative.

Note that on some of our carbon steel knives, the blades are treated with a "bluing" finish to protect the steel from corrosion.  This darkens the blade, but will help to keep it from rusting.  Applying light oil to the blade before storing it for long periods of time will help to protect it against corrosion.  The knife should also not be stored for a long time in the sheath, as the leather sometimes contains tanning chemicals that can discolor the blade.  Should your knife become rusted, fine steel wool or a scouring pad will remove most rust, and keeping it lightly oiled again will help to repel further corrosion.  If you want to have the blued finish on our carbon steel knives re-treated, as it can be polished away over time, UKW will perform a re-bluing of the blade at no cost except for return shipping charges as explained in the Shipping section.

​​RETURNS & EXCHANGES

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase.  If the product you purchased from us is not what you intended to receive, it can be returned within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, as long as it is in a new, unused condition and is accompanied by all of the original parts and accessories.  Just ship your knife back to us and let us know that you would like a refund.

If the product you received is not quite what you expected, but there is a different product that you would prefer, it can also be exchanged within 30 days of purchase for a different item from our inventory.  As explained above, the product must be in its original condition.  Simply ship your knife back to us and let us know which product you would like to exchange for, as long as that product is in stock.  Any unavailable knife shown on the site can be made, but please allow 3-4 weeks for construction of a new knife.  Any differences in price will be billed or refunded as needed.
